A 4" round non-coned and non-drilled top and bottom rail that has a flat surface milled the length of the rail. The spindles can be installed by drilling holes at the proper angle on the jobsite or cutting the spindles at the proper angle and toe nailing them to the flat surface. All material is Eastern White Pine, Cleartreat (Borate) pressure treated. Sections are sold in 8, 10, and 12 lengths only

The installation of new stair treads & rails should only be considered by someone that has experience and a proven track record in the stair building business ( this is not a job for the weekend handyman ). When renovating for your new solid wood stairway with wood treads, rails & balusters you will have to remove the existing railing system and carpet on the stairs; then the base structure for the new wood stairs will have be prepared for the new product. On a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the most difficult - Installing wood stairs & rails rates a 4. We recomend you seek the advice of a professional stair builder in your area!

That was fine for Pat and Judy, but when the grandchildren came to visit, they really needed to add a rail to the other wall both for safety and to help keep those dirty little hands off the clean white walls.
